A friend actually spotted this dresser for me and sent me a picture to see if I was interested.
Well, of course I was.
She had no trouble seeing that is was JUST my style.
She was curvy and tall and had a beautiful mirror that just drew me in.
Of course I wanted to buy her and remake her.
She had great bones and natural beauty so her makeover was pretty easy.
I wanted to keep her look light and innocent…sweet.
I wanted her to look traditional and appeal to many people…so I defaulted to white.
White is a safe color.
Everyone wants to buy white dressers and although I get tired of painting in white sometimes, white is a gorgeous color to paint with.
White was surely her color!
I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White and distressed her all over.
I painted right over that boring brown paint as the paint was in very nice condition.
I distressed her all over as well.
Distressing is my most favorite part of the refinishing process…I love revealing the details
on a piece and distressing really makes a piece POP.
I confess I hate when people want me to paint something and then NOT distress it.
Big fat frown :(:(:(
That makes my happy distressing heart so sad.
So, I always distress because it makes me HAPPY!
And it just looks good.
When I was done, I sealed it up in Annie Sloan’s Clear Wax.
She is a beautiful dresser…I loved her even more.
She sold right away!
So happy to know she has a forever home
